Kapital Six Media is a store found in Southside Vancouver. It sells musical instruments, video appliance and offers rentals to individuals and organizations. It has an enormous collection of modern, old, and classical instruments and is involved in digital and premium cameras. It plans to expand into E-commerce and set up its presence online. I was in charge of research, design, usability testing, and the overall experience of putting all the components together.
Joyce Carter is an 18 years old first-year student at British Columbia Institute of Technology,
Vancouver. She recently graduated high school and hope to become a web developer and have enrolled
in the New Media & Web-development program. For upcoming term, Joyce needs a shotgun mic for the
video her course for a week. She decides to look for microphone rental company online. She searches
“professional camera microphone rentals” on google and kapitalsix.com show up. She clicks on the
link and goes to the home page.
The purpose of the usability test is to figure out how first-time users can access the site and
complete a task. The outcome of this test is to find out the style, layout and holistically
approach kapital Six can incorporate e-commerce into their existing website. They intend to
transition from a brick and mortar business to E-commerce. Overall, the test was successful.
Participants were happy with the clean, modern interface, and easy navigational pages. Feedback was
positive and there is room for improvement.
